Mighty Mozart: Anthony Bracewell, Viola

anthony_bracewellBurlington College is proud to present Mighty Mozart 2014. Take in a picnic and classical music with gorgeous views of the lake and sunsets. Concerts will be performed outdoors on our beautiful campus under our tent. Nine concerts over the course of three weeks will bring world-class musicians together to perform a carefully chosen selection of pieces by Mozart and his contemporaries.

Violinist Anthony Bracewell, from Windsor Ontario (Canada) is pursuing a bachelor of music degree studying with violin pedagogue Paul Kantor at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He began his studies in Windsor Ontario at age 5; previous teachers include Lillian Scheirich and Aaron Berofsky.

Anthony won first prize at the 2008 St. Paul National String Quartet Competition as a member of the Viaggio String Quartet, as well as first prize at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s 2010 Milhaud Competition. In 2008, he received a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist award and appeared on the show “From the Top” which is aired nationally on NPR.

Anthony was a member of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and served as concertmaster for three years. He has soloed with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, and other ensembles. Anthony has participated in many summer festivals, including four summers at the Meadowmount School of Music in New York. This past Christmas he had the opportunity to participate in the New York String Orchestra Seminar in Carnegie Hall.
