A couple months ago, while working at Trader Joe’s, junior Tyler Santor was asked to design some large signs for the store. During the process, he realized that all the techniques he was using were ones that faculty member Dana Heffern taught him. “I wouldn’t have known how to do it if Dana never taught me how,” Tyler explained.  A Graphic Design Major, he has worked very closely with Dana since he started at Burlington College.

Gregarious: A Profile of Greg Litchfield

You always hear him before you see him: the voice around the corner, the laughter echoing in the stairwell. You open your email and there’s a message from him about the Student Government Association or an upcoming student activity.

This is Greg Litchfield, Dean of Student Affairs. Right after being accepted to the college and meeting the admissions people, you meet Greg. He shows you around campus, helps you find housing, and even takes you to the doctor if you’re sick and need a ride. You could say he’s kind of a second dad. Most of us see him every day, but how many of us have actually gotten to know him? He loves working around young adults and has been working at Burlington College for 6 ½ years, but has actually been in student services for the past sixteen. Junior Maddie Pajerowski says, “Greg is super friendly. He’s always interested in the students at the college. He was the first one I saw when I came here.”

This led me to the idea of writing about five "actively disengaging" walks I have taken on the shores of Lake Champlain.

In a couple of previous blogs I model something I encourage my students to do — actively disengage during the design process. Doing this gives them a break from the problem and I maintain it really helps stimulate creative thinking. This led me to the idea of writing about five "actively disengaging" walks I have taken on the shores of Lake Champlain. Here's the third in the series of those walks.
